Strong Q3 Results and Raised Guidance

The company's October 29, 2026, earnings release highlighted 19% growth in global active patients to 5,260, with its Optune Gio therapy for glioblastoma driving core growth and new contributions from its Optune Lua and Optune Pax therapies. Gross margin improved to 77%. Net loss narrowed to US$10.4 million, or US$0.09 per share, and adjusted EBITDA reached US$15.7 million. Cash and short-term investments stood at US$463.5 million.

"Novocure's strong third quarter performance was driven by continued growth in our Optune Gio business and our growing portfolio of products launching in new markets, resulting in a record number of active patients on our therapies," said Frank Leonard, CEO of Novocure. "We achieved record-high quarterly net revenue and are well-positioned to achieve the commercial, clinical and financial goals we set out in January. Based on the results from this quarter, we have raised our financial guidance for 2026 and will continue to build on the strong progress we have made on our path to profitability."

With this performance release, the company has also updated 2026 guidance to reflect stronger performance, assuming mid-to-high single-digit Optune Gio growth and US$30 million-US$34 million from new indications.

At the same time, Optune Pax has received approval from Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare for unresectable locally advanced pancreatic cancer. Novocure also entered a clinical trial collaboration with Verastem Oncology to evaluate TTFields therapy with chemotherapy and VS-7375, a KRAS G12D inhibitor, in locally advanced pancreatic cancer, with the trial expected to begin in 2027. Other anticipated milestones include an FDA decision on brain metastases from NSCLC in Q4 2026 and completion of enrollment in the KEYNOTE D58 glioblastoma trial.

How Novocure Stacks Up Against Pancreatic Cancer Rivals

Novocure's Optune Pax launch has encountered competition from Revolution Medicines Inc.'s (RVMD:NASDAQ) daraxonrasib (RASONQUE), a RAS inhibitor approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in August 2026 for certain patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The treatment provides a new option for patients whose disease has progressed following at least one prior systemic therapy, while Optune Pax is approved as a first-line treatment for locally advanced pancreatic cancer. The two therapies address different treatment settings, although their respective launches are vying for physician attention in the pancreatic cancer market.

During the Q3 2026 earnings call, Frank Leonard said the introduction of daraxonrasib had slowed Optune Pax's U.S. launch by limiting the company's ability to access physician practices. He attributed the disruption partly to increased patient inquiries, insurance appeals, and management of treatment-related skin irritation among daraxonrasib patients. However, Leonard said the company was not seeing substantial numbers of patients discontinue Optune Pax to switch to daraxonrasib. He also noted that Novocure had not identified widespread first-line use of daraxonrasib, apart from patients unable to tolerate standard chemotherapy.

New Treatments Needed for Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the deadliest forms of cancer, creating significant demand for improved treatment options. According to the American Cancer Society's 2026 estimates, approximately 67,530 people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year, while 52,740 are expected to die from the disease. Although pancreatic cancer accounts for approximately 3% of new cancer cases in the U.S., it is responsible for about 8% of cancer deaths.

The disease also represents a substantial global health burden. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) ranks it as the 12th most commonly diagnosed cancer globally but the sixth leading cancer-related mortality factor. That prognosis helps explain the demand for new therapies. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) reports an overall five-year relative survival rate of approximately 13% for pancreatic cancer, based on patients diagnosed between 2015 and 2021. Survival varies considerably by stage: the rate is 44% for localized disease, 17% for regional disease, and just 3% for cancer that has spread to distant parts of the body. The NCI notes that pancreatic cancer is frequently diagnosed at a later stage, when it cannot be surgically removed or cured.

Historically, treatment has relied heavily on chemotherapy; however, targeted therapies are becoming an increasingly important area of research. According to the NCI's pancreatic cancer treatment overview, approximately nine out of 10 pancreatic cancers have mutations in the KRAS gene, making it a significant target for drug development. Molecular testing is also helping identify patients who may benefit from specific targeted treatments or immunotherapies. A notable development came on August 26, 2026, when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Revolution Medicines' Rasonque (daraxonrasib), a first-in-class RAS inhibitor for certain patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma. In a 500-patient clinical trial, the treatment demonstrated median overall survival of 13.2 months, compared with 6.7 months for standard chemotherapy. The approval represents a significant development in a disease historically characterized by limited treatment options.

Investment Experts Offer Mixed Ratings

On October 29, 2026, Wedbush's David Nierengarten, Ph.D., reiterated a "Neutral" rating and price target of US$20, writing, "We remain in a wait-and-see stance for evidence that Pax and Lua can consistently drive meaningful growth beyond Gio, and for additional confidence in duration of treatment in those patients."

According to TipRanks, other recent analyst coverage of Novocure includes:

  • On October 30, 2026, Larry Biegelsen of Wells Fargo assigned a "Hold" rating and lowered the price target from US$20 to US$15.
  • On October 30, 2026, Vijay Kumar of Evercore ISI reiterated a "Buy" rating but lowered the price target from US$23 to US$20.
  • On October 26, 2026, Jason Bednar of Piper Sandler reiterated a "Buy" rating and a US$29 price target.

Then, on November 2, 2026, Chen Lin of What Is Chen Buying? What Is Chen Selling? addressed the company, writing, "NVCR reported very good results, increased the guidance for 2026, but share was down over 10% as daraxonrasib took the spotlight of pancreatic cancer. Remember, NVCR has almost half a billion in cash, and it is getting cash flow positive. It is trading at 2x revenue but 1.5x if you back out cash. I see it is extremely undervalued and add more at 13 areas and below."

Trials and Studies to Watch

According to the earnings call, Novocure is pursuing clinical collaborations to explore whether Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) therapy can be used alongside KRAS inhibitors. Two planned studies are expected to begin in the first half of 2027. The PANOVA-5 trial will evaluate Optune Pax alongside gemcitabine, nab-paclitaxel, and Verastem Oncology's investigational KRAS G12D inhibitor VS-7375 in locally advanced pancreatic cancer.

Meanwhile, PANOVA-6 will investigate the combination of Optune Pax and daraxonrasib in metastatic pancreatic cancer. Both initial studies are designed to assess safety and feasibility, potentially providing a foundation for further combination research.
